Forbidden Love by S.E.N

For all my years since I started appreciating music, I always wanted to listen to this particular song and yet nobody could tell me and my brother didn't want to tell me after all these years. He finally did today when we went to a music store, I suppose I've been a better sister! I was so scared that he wouldn't even tell me on his deathbed in the future or something like that(no offence). When I was about 4-7 years old, my brother kept playing that song on the piano while I danced to the music. He played it so beautifully that I twirled round and round till I got dizzy. Well, I got the song now, so I want to look out for the music scores. This people, S.E.N, are really good! I don't know who and how they look like but whatever it is, all the other songs are also beautifully composed and played well. I think they are Japanese, their music sounds Japanese like. There is another one, Like a Wind and it's wonderful! I'm not able to find Forbidden Love
on Youtube and all they showed was Forbidden Love by Madonna. Ugh! Her songs are weird but some people love her.

*Full of joyful tears* I finally found the one Christian worship song that caught my ears when I was starting my Secondary school! Every morning, my school plays worship songs, mostly ones that influence youths and that's one of the reasons why my school is so "Cool"! Just kiddin'! I tried searching for this song and nearly gave up, or rather I was so busy here and there and there were times I forgot...This song is so beautiful and I cry so many times just listening to it...God has done so many things in my life and I can't thank him enough! No matter what happened and will happen to me in future, all I want and need is GOD alone, that's all.

Just a note...

Just yesterday I realised that the videos and imeem music bars I inserted in this Blog are now all replaced by a square and a dot each. I tried to copy and paste the HTML again but to no avail so from now onwards, other than posting these videos and music bars, I'll also give the URL. It's much safer this way, I don't know much about downloading and it's downsides. Plus, I'll be returning to school so maybe I'll only post once a month. Well, I got to study real hard! Same to students who spent their time on the 'net.

Les Petits Chanteurs de St Marc - Caresse sur l'ocean

This is a video of the Choir I mentioned in the former post. They are singing Caresse sur l'ocean, one of the songs used in Les Choristes and Jean-Baptiste Maunier was also the soloist in this performance just as he was in the film. It's a celestial and touching song people say.

Les Choristes

I just watched Les Choristes, a 2004 French film yesterday night and I felt that even a simple plot of such story in this film could attract my tears to spill out. It's mostly the music they made mainly from the Choir. Ah...I'm glad that I join the Choir in my school too, it's a great sensation to be in a whole, singing harmoniously. Anyway, the songs are a bit sad(some of them), sounding like an orphan still thinking that his father is coming to fetch him from a boarding school as said in the film. The boys in the school all need hope and encouragement from the teachers actually. So when Clement Mathieu, the new prefect came in, everything changed, as expected from the audience, for the better. When the boys showed him little respect and gave him trouble, he approached them in a different way than the other prefects. He became much of their friend, eventually finding a Choir voice in them. And there were exceptions and other problems too. In all, having watched so many touching films, I felt that there were not much difference with other good films and I expected it quite as much as it was. Still, every story, every film is unique and to be appreciated more than what the critics comment. I would still recommend this film. The boys really sang too and the background music is sung by Les Petits Chanteurs~De Saint-Marc of which one of the choristers, Jean-Baptiste Maunier, was in the film as one of the main actors. I even bought the album they were selling today, thinking that it was the soundtrack of the film. I half regretted when I looked the second time at the album but that was before I listened to them. They have truly earned recognition across the world. I hope that my Choir too, will be just like them(or even becoming better than them one day). True, my Choir is 119 years old this year and it's quite good, but sometimes we don't have much passion for singing. But that's another matter. For those who have not seen this film:

Ohh! Korean! I feel faint...

After watching Witch Yoo Hee/Witch Amusement, a recent Korean comedy romance drama, I got in love with the songs too! I don't really understand the songs but they are really one of a kind. I've never known much of Korean Pop till I started waching Korean drama of course! There's one of my friends who shares much of the same thoughts as me(though I suspect she prefers those weepy to funny ones). Anyway, we both agree that the best looking asian guy is somehow Koreans. There are other good songs from other Korean drama too... I'll be taking time. This would be sort of my favourite song form the drama Wich Yoo Hee below:

The Heart Asks For Pleasure First/The Sacrifice by Michael Nyman

This piece of Classic is one of my favourite. It's shown in movie, The Piano directed and written by Jane Chapman. There's so many things I would like to talk about but don't really know where to start. So anyway, I put out the video and by watching it will make you understand all of what I want to say. Shanghai Honey by Orange Range

"Shanghai Honey"! Oooh! I love this song very much! Orange Range is a Japanese band by the way. I heard about it when I was watching the Japanese Drama, Orange Days(that's the reason why they inserted the song). It's crazy and funny, not like other Japanese songs I heard. The song's released on 16th July 2003. Hmmm...What's all that about Shanghai honey? I have no idea what they are singing about but you'll be able to get along!

Stronger by Kanye West

"Stronger", the second single from Kanye West: Graduation, was released on 31st July. And if I had listened to a radio earlier, I would have heard this song! Sheesh! Can't believe how slow I've been! This song contains a sample from the song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" by the Daft Punk duo. Well, Kanye West said that his song, although a great one, does not compare to the original song, "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". The teddy which is designed by Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami wears the same sunglasses as Kanye West. The teddy's brown just like him. Nay, just kiddin'! The song is actually dedicated to the singer's Mom who was still living then. The lyrics is not my taste though.

From the air

Whoa! After exploring in my new handphone, I found a radio over the last two days. It was simply fantastic! Yeah, maybe I sound a bit too outdated but my dad lost this 1 year-old handphone and straight away bought a newer handphone. Anyway, the songs I heard on a few stations were old and new. They are just so nice to hear! There were songs that I heard before way long time ago and I finally got to know what the titles were. So it's great! Then there were songs that caught my attention and I desperately wanted to know the titles even though a few of them were produced way back in 2003...And the DJ was probably too busy such that he didn't bother naming the songs! There are songs sung by the Hoobasntank band: The Reason(2003), Kanye West: Stronger(2007), Jordin Sparks: Tattoo(2007), Fergie: Big Girls Don't Cry(2007) and so many more! Some may seem outdated but still rock(well to some people)! As for these few days, I'll be posting songs and their lyrics, old and new, classic or pop, anything that's good! Oooh! So many more to list down!

Dug from the past

Hey, maybe I'm a bit late into listening to new songs but there are a few songs which are actually not that bad. Ha! Take Elvis Presley for one, but for now, I'm talking about The Backstreet Boys: Climbing The Walls. Maybe the band isn't that good, well I'm not too sure. They have been doin' their job since 1993 till now, they are a Grammy-nominated American boy band, sold over 100 million albums and so on. I always thought that there were more than 4 or 5 members. It seemed complicated. They have 6 studio albums I should think. Okay, back to the point, there's this song, Climbing The Walls which I heard on Windows Media Player(again) which is kinda sensational. The song came from the album, Never Gone, which was released in 2005. And so I know I'm late...it may not be as good as other songs but it's not that bad right?

The Kite Runner

I 've written this post in my first Blog but I would like to repeat it here as The Kite Runner is one of my "The Loves Of My Life" and this is somewhat a summary I made of this book. My mom kinda forced me to do a review on it after my End Of Year Exams. Warning: This is a spoiler.

The Kite Runner

Amir, an Afghan boy has a life full of heart wrenching yet beautiful moments in his life. In this novel, he yearns to have the everlasting love of Baba, his father. He does try to please his father and to make his father proud of him. However, Amir does not have a heart of courage and defending himself, thus always letting his father down into thinking that he will hardly make it to be a real man in his life. Amir loves to read and compose stories but is not sporty like his father who happens not to like books. Rahim Khan, a friend of Baba, understands Amir’s plight and problems. He thus encourages Amir to follow his way and dreams.

Hassan, Amir’s servant, is a Hazara, a race discriminated by other races in Afghanistan. Most Hazaras are servants and slaves badly treated by their masters. Hassan is somewhat the opposite of Amir, always standing up for himself and Amir, also having a thick skin when people make fun of him. There are times when Amir gets jealous as Baba seems to treat Hassan like his son when he’s only a servant. Complications arise after Amir witnessed Hassan being cruelly raped by Assef, a strong supporter of Hitler when Hassan was fetching Amir’s kite after the latter won the kite competition. After the kite competition, Baba readily accepts Amir as his good son which is what Amir wanted always. Deep in Amir’s heart, there lives guilt about the incident he had. He knew he was foolish, selfish and lacked courage into helping Hassan. Amir began plotting to get away from Hassan, knowing that he was guilty. He finally manages to get rid of Hassan although he regretted later on.

War comes; Amir and his father escape to America. Adapting to America was tough to them; they weren’t living with comfort and had to start from scratch to feed themselves. Days passed by and Amir graduated, got a job and a wife and Baba died peacefully along the way. Many years later, he had a call from a dying Rahim Khan and went back to Afghanistan to his hometown, Kabul to visit him to catch up with the times. But he never knew a great secret would be unraveled to him…

Amir has to find Hassan’s son, Sohrab, to give him a good life; away from the terror and miseries under the new government, the Taliban. With determination and perseverance in himself, Amir seeks help along the way and touches many people’s hearts, finding Sorab in Assef’s hands. He fights with Assef and saves Sohrab from slavery and cruelty into freedom. There were hardships and misunderstandings to getting Sohrab to be accepted into America. They finally settled down as one big family. Amir has finally become a true man able to redeem himself of the mistakes he had commited.

The Kite Runner is about love between the relationship of a father and son, trust and betrayal in a friendship, the means of being loyal to each other and determination to redeem of one’s soul when in the wrong.

Ahhh...Sweet music...

I used to think that Modern Classical and Christian songs/music are always the best, which it still is to me, but I realised that there are many others which were able to catch my heart...Take for example, The Jonas Brothers: S.O.S, Alicia Keys: No One and Colbie Caillat: Bubbly. I just inserted "No One" in my Blog by the way and it should play automatically. Hope it does not bother anyone, it's really suiting to many people's ears. The beats, melody and even the lyrics of some songs can be catchy or soulful. They can be simple yet touching, till I wish so hard for that particular song to repeat again and that I can catch the title and be mesmerised by the song. When I first heard Snow Patrol: Chasing Cars, I simply had to repeat it again and again. I remember rushing back home and switching on the computer just to hear it over a dozen times in Windows Media Player. Similarly for other songs too, although I went to http://www.imeem.com to listen to them nowadays. There's Chinese and Latin music too! Still, there's a few Modern Classical songs like The Heart Asks For Pleasure/The Sacrifice by Michael Nyman that are good to listen. Then there's also Hillsong, The Afters and many more...I suppose I'm no longer a prune, meaning that I used to only like Classical and Christian music and usually disregarded Pop, Rap, Jazz and other categories of music.

Creating a second Blog here

When creating a second Blog, it seems so hard like you are giving birth to a second child and you are not too sure if you may have favouritism in future. And so I've decided to let that thought go. In this Blog, it's talking about my open ideas of my life and hobbies. Some may seem weird but I hope readers will enjoy! Just a start here...not too much of a hurry.
